This all began in December 2016 when I gave a Rainbow Hat to one of my oldest and dearest friends.
I had made it as a token to honor the occasion of her healthy pregnancy and the Rainbow Baby she and her husband were expecting.
Have you heard the term "Rainbow Baby"? A Rainbow Baby is a thriving child born to parents who have mourned over miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant death.
And it is a thing, right? Giving a tiny hat to a baby? And one with the colors of the rainbow could be a way to celebrate the child in a way that recognizes the parent's long and harrowing journey toward parenthood.
My friend agreed. In fact, she exclaimed that she wanted to give a Rainbow Hat to everyone in her support group. Our conversation then followed some twists and turns but ultimately left me wondering how I could make enough hats for her to share...
